• Super warm, over-the-calf, boot or just hanging out socks are knit using a strand of worsted weight yarn combined with a strand of fingering weight yarn. (Depending on colors chosen, result may result in a ragg look). Six sizes, Child 4-6 to Men’s Large are included. The “goodies” are directions for a very warm scarf and cap set. The pattern is available in print or as a digital download on Ravelry.

This pattern is available in digital format on Ravelry. I’ve received so many compliments on this pattern, mostly “I learned to knit socks using this pattern and worsted weight yarn.” After that, knitters move on to the world of “fine” sock knitting and the glorious yarns available. (Personally, as a beginner sock knitter, I learned to knit argyle socks for my boyfriend with fine yarn in high school. Fourteen pairs later, he married me. The socks are gone, but 67 years later he isn’t!

Pattern is available on Ravelry. The boot socks are great fun to wear. The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn and directions are given for seven sizes— child size small to men’s Large.  The cable is a nice addition, but it is not essential. At the end of the pattern book are two extra patterns, a “Plaited Cable Headband” and “Plaited Cable Boot Toppers.” Other variations of the pattern are explained: (1) Over the Boot Socks, (2) Boot toppers, and (3) Leg Warmers.
