First published in 1984, Cottage Creations’ most popular pattern — Wonderful Wallaby — has inspired generations of knitters. Over the years, hundreds have shared that they didn’t knit just one Wallaby, but many — adding their own creative touches and posting photos on Ravelry and Pinterest.
Like so many knitters, I’ve made countless Wallabys for friends and family. Along the way, I incorporated helpful innovations and community-shared techniques, and recognized the need for clearer diagrams and expanded guidance. With these additions, it became necessary to create a “new generation” edition divided into two booklets — one for kids (sizes 2–12) and one for grown-ups (five sizes).
In 2026, David Emert — current owner of Cottage Creations — chose to bring Wonderful Wallaby back into print. It had been more than a decade since the last printing. As a result, current production costs are significantly higher than in previous years, which accounts for the updated price compared to other patterns on the website.
Please note: There is absolutely nothing wrong with the original W03 pattern — this edition simply reflects thoughtful updates, clearer diagrams, and refinements for today’s knitters.
